(L-R) Ian Brown, John Squire, Mani, Reni

The Stone Roses will indeed reunite next year – as rumoured for many days now – for two special gigs in their home city. The four original members, Ian Brown, John Squire, Gary ‘Mani’ Mountfield and Alan ‘Reni’ Wren made the announcement at today’s much-hyped press conference at The Soho Hotel in Richmond Mews, London. The gigs will take place at Heaton Park, Manchester on June 29th and 30th, 2012.

Reasons offered amongst fans for such an unlikely reformation have been wide and varied, with some believing that Ian Brown’s pending and potentially costly divorce has been a major incentive behind the comeback. Regardless of motive, the much coveted tickets are expected to sell out fast when they go on sale this Friday at 9.30am from Ticketmaster.

The gigs will also be followed by a world tour and a new album.
